Where Does A Body End?
Official Selection: Chicago Underground Film Festival.
“Marco has created a vision… physically incarnate - that has told a story that must be told and never allowed to be forgotten.” – Joey Pan
Where Does a Body End? is an intimate portrait of the band Swans, from their roots as a confrontational post-punk band that emerged from the same environment as Sonic Youth (and somehow, Madonna) through their ill-fated bid at mainstream success in the 90s indie-rock goldrush. It traverses breakups and chaos (on and offstage) and their odds-defying current status as one of the most accomplished and ambitious bands in the world, whose concerts are more like ecstatic rituals than nostalgic trips back through their most popular songs. Featuring interviews from rock luminaries like Thurston Moore, Lee Ranaldo, Amanda Palmer, Devendra Banhart and Blixa Bargeld, director Marcos Porisa works with unfettered access to hundreds of hours of Swans archives to present us with a blistering portrait of one of the most iconoclastic bands of our times.
